The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a national not-for-profit organisation, supported by Rotary that runs a number of residential programs to encourage young people in their passion for science.  It includes a 12-day residential program in Canberra designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to encourage continued studies in these fields.  Heirisson manages the selection of students from our district to attend NYSF, and mentors them during the program. In 2017, two of the attendees from Girrawheen SHS were further selected to attend science enrichment events in London and Singapore.
