Happy New Year Everyone!!
We hope you had a lovely time over Christmas and New Year's Eve and are hopefully looking forward to a year of easing restrictions, travel and just living a normal life. In the meantime, here's some words from our President Don:
Hello members, I just wanted to remind you all of some upcoming items, the fabulous little fundraiser that Justin organised for us that raised $1,460 for our club and the Australia Day Breakfast on 26th of this month. Please read and I look forward to seeing you all on the 13th.
Important points
Our first meeting for the year is Breakfast 13 Jan, with Allan as Guest Speaker
We will be having and evening meeting on 18 January, Guest Speaker to be advised.
Classic Cars and Coffee – UWA, 7.00 am to 10.00 am, 31 December 2021
Club members Maree, Sheridan, Robin, Richard, Ken, Warwick and Don, joined Justin at ‘Classic Cars and Coffee’, which is held at UWA every month. Our task was to collect $10 from all the cars people brought to display, with $3 of that coming to Heirisson, $3 to Prostate Cancer Foundation, and $4 to the owners/organisers of the event.
Being careful not to get run over, over a busy couple of hours we collected the money as the cars came in, varying from ancient 1920s Chevs, to monster Pontiacs and Buicks from the 1950s and 1960s, to French cars of all sizes and shapes and a few Rollers, Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
It was quite a lot of fun, the organisers said we did a good job, and we did well, collecting a total of $4,876.69, of which $1,460.31 will come to Heirisson! A good result and big thanks to Justin for providing the opportunity and the organisation and to all the volunteers. .
Australia Day Breakfast – Victoria Gardens, 7.00 am to 10.00 am, 26 January 2022
Planning for this event is being led by Rob Arndt, supported by Keiren, Ken, Warwick, Rosalie and Don. Good progress is being made with (i) Keiren looking after the paperwork and sourcing entertainment, (ii) John Patton at IGA sponsoring the event through provision of food (meat, buns, fruit, fruit juice, onions etc), (iii) Robin and Rosalie organising the Flyer, (iv) Ken rounding up volunteers to distribute flyers and (v) Don checking the completeness of our ‘kit’ at our storage.
Given we are not partnering with St Bart’s this year, we will need a lot of members on hand to manage the event and so can you please put the time and date in your diary. More information will be provided at coming meetings.
