Heirisson Happenings July 8, 2021 (Jun 29, 2021)

Hello again!!

Here's an important message from DG Jon Bilson and DG elect Dee Buckland:

The RI Board have advised in the past 24 hours that we are to create a new WA wide District which will mean we can now truly become Rotary WA. This will see the combining of District 9455 (north of the Swan River) with District 9456 (south of the Swan) to form one WA District. You will see more from Dee in your email very shortly so stay tuned.

An exciting initiative for our Clubs and Members known as The Inclusion Project will be launched in 2021-22.

We recognise that our membership is amazing, but it does not accurately reflect our modern communities - not in gender, age, cultural background, disability, or sexual orientation. As a District, we are declaring that this is not where we want to be. We know that many of our Clubs want to grow and be more diverse, and we want to support them.

The Inclusion Project aims to enrich our District with the hands, hearts and minds of our whole community. This includes:

Reducing barriers to inclusion in our Clubs, which are often unintended
Increasing understanding across generations, gender, cultures, abilities, and sexual orientation
Honouring older members and learning from their experience of adapting to change

The first step in the new Rotary year will be to set up an Inclusion Project Co-design Group that reflects the diversity we aspire to, which will design, test and refine a 12 month program. We hope you will be supportive of this program as we seek to shape the future of Rotary in WA.

Our Sergeant Rodney who should be back with us on Thursday July 8, Estelle, our newest member with a broken ankle that continues to improve which is good news and Allan, who has undergone surgery to his neck and is doing well. He is now at home being fussed over!!
