Greetings Members,
Here's the latest from President Don:
Australia Day Breakfast – Victoria Gardens, East Perth
This event went very well, with a large team from Heirisson (Robin, Ann, Keiren, Sheridan, Maree, Bronwyn, Warwick, Ken, Rosalie, Richard, Don and Bev) supported by members of the EPCG providing breakfast, and Actors Hub providing music and other entertainment. We served about 180 breakfasts, ran out of food which required Maree and Keiren to do runners down to IGA to get more sausages, onions, buns etc. We have had great feedback from the community about how enjoyable it was - they loved the breakfast, the Actors Hub and the relaxed atmosphere under the trees. Special thanks to Keiren and Robin for organising the venue and permit, John Patton (IGA) for his donation of foodstuffs ($542 worth I think), Maree who made extra 4 trips to IGA collecting more foodstuffs, Rosalie for the fantastic corflutes around the trees (which can be used at future Australia Day Breakfasts), and Warwick for the sign at the entrance to Victoria Gardens and his promotion efforts. It is a great community event!
Thanks Don, and here's some pics of the event curtesy of Sheridan.

Donation to Perth Homeless Support Group
Thanks to the ever helpful John Grimshaw at the Electoral Commission Warehouse in Brown Street, East Perth, Don collected four large boxes containing wipes which have delivered to Perth Homeless Support Group in Bayswater (see photo attached). Stacey who received the boxes of wipes said they are very busy with a high demand from homeless people for their services. They are very appreciative of our on-going support.
And here's Don handing over the wipes

And it's on again folks!!
Parking duty for Big Boys Toys
Big Boys Toys is on again on 11, 12 and 13 February at McCallum Park, and is being organised by Russell Lanyon (Logistics Co-ordinator, Duck Derby, and Mill Point RC). We raised a lot of money doing this last year, and it is quite a lot of fun, provided one does not mind coming home covered in dust and lawn clippings. Allan, Ken and I will be meeting Russell on Wednesday 2 Feb to determine how much of the action over the three days we want to handle this year, and so stay posted. It is likely that we will be sharing the duty with Mill Point, given they have more members than Heirisson.

Gunfire Breakfast – 7.00 am to 9.00 am, Government House Gardens, Anzac Day 25 April
Thanks to COVID, the last two Gunfire Breakfasts at Government House Gardens were cancelled. Prior to that, we have provided the labour for the Gunfire Breakfasts, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Perth, members of other clubs and exchange students. This is not a fundraising event, as the breakfasts are free and RSLWA provide all the food stuffs. We have done bacon and egg burgers with some trimmings, and have provided tea and coffee. This year, RSLWA is budgeting for 2,000 breakfasts, with all ‘hardware’ (marquee, tables and chairs barbecues, tables, bain maries etc) provided by RSLWA. We supply labour, but of course we will not have the exchange students this year. The event does require a lot of volunteers and so please make a note in your diaries.
And a reminder ….
We will be meeting as usual on Thursday morning 3 February, but please don’t forget that our first evening meeting of the year will be on Tuesday 8 February – 6.00 pm for 7.00 pm - with our guest speaker being the Very Reverend Dr John Shepherd, President of the Rotary Club of Perth. It will be a great evening.
