Hello members,
From Treasurer Don,
Meeting Tuesday 18th October 2022.
At our last meeting we were pleased to welcome back Erin Hegarty from Mama Respond. Erin updated us on the build program at Noonkopir Township Primary school where a large building is being constructed for children with disabilities. The build is going well but the project needs more money to finish the interior. Erin threw down the challenge to Heirisson Rotary for $2,000 to help make this happen.

Donation to Mount Lawley Senior High School 2022 Science Scholarship
We recently donated $250 to the Mount Lawley Senior High School 2022 Science Scholarship. This is a scholarship that we have supported for many years. We received the following thankyou letter. ‘Thank you for your continued association with the school’s Academic Scholarships. This initiative is designed to recognise achievement and provide encouragement to students. It also highlights the value of education. The school community appreciates your support for the Rotary Club of Heirisson Science Scholarship. Your donation will allow the school to select a worthy student and provide them with $250 towards associated Contributions and Charges’.

The 2022 ‘Socks in the City’ campaign
A large number of socks donated by individuals, schools and Rotary Clubs have been disbursed to organisations supporting homeless people including Homeless Healthcare, Perth Homeless Support Group and the Street Chaplains. We have received donations of $1,792 for the ‘Socks in the City’ campaign- including a donation of $500 from the Heirisson Rotary Club – which we will begin disbursing to homeless support organisations either in the form of more socks or underwear, as we did last year.

Fund-raising at Classic Cars and Coffee – Wanneroo Raceway 7.30 am to 1.00 pm Sunday 6 November
Sunday 6th November we had a social outing planned at Rod Slater’s home in Yanchep! However Justin has provided the club with the opportunity to raise a large amount of money on the same day at a Classic Cars & Coffee event at Wanneroo Raceway. They are raising money for Prostate Cancer Foundation and looking for some volunteers to monitor the parking. This opportunity has been offered to us and they are happy to split the proceeds with our club as we did on New Year’s Eve last year if we provide volunteers. Last time we did this event it was a great earner (and a lot of fun), and this one is expected to be a much bigger event. It is a great money raiser and Rod is on board with us doing it, meaning that we will postpone the social event at Rod's house. Please watch out for a new date for our social meeting in Yanchep!
