Hi Folks,
Last week.....
One of our own, Maddy Shoebridge gave her Rotary New Membership Speech on her life and times which was most enjoyed by all. An Artist to begin with, Maddy soon learned that an Artist's life is a difficult one. This spurred her on to Mechanical Engineering and she never looked back. Maddy has had a range of totally interesting 'Project Management' positions, mainly on mine sites that have given her a plethora of skills sufficient to propel her through a great career. This continues on Monday next when Maddy will commence with BHP on yet another leg of her terrific journey. So if we decide to start up an iron ore mine we now know exactly where to go. :)
.....
Last Wednesday, Robin, Anne, Don, Allan, Keiren and Jim visited 'Wheel Chairs for Kids' in Wangara.
And what an interesting visit it was. A huge factory with approximately 30 volunteer retirees, beavering away to pump out 20 of these remarkable chairs a day. As well as a tour, we were all treated to morning tea with the entire workforce which was much enjoyed. Here's some pics....
Here's one of Don, contemplating a career in simple repetitive tasks!!
A terrific tour full of good news stories and dreams that come true.
This Week's Meeting:
Tuesday
September 7, 6pm at
'Steelos Restaurant' (on ground floor with entry adjacent to our normal entrance)
with 7pm meeting upstairs in the President's Room.
WITH BEN WYATT, EX STATE GOVERNMENT TREASURER AS OUR GUEST SPEAKER.
As you all know, this meeting was held last night, the first assessment test for Tuesday evening meetings. There was excellent attendance with some members bringing along friends and family. Ben was introduced by Debbie Fletcher whom Ben had worked with quite a lot whilst in Government and then he gave us a terrific account of his time studying in London and his years in politics. Here's a pic.
