Last week.....
We heard from Dr. John Stace who talked about his interest in the Raynor Hoff sculpture in the Sydney Anzac Memorial called "Sacrifice".
This artwork was largely ignored and not shown its true potential as it shows the burden placed on women in particular when their menfolk, whether they be husband, father or son that were not coming back from the carnage that is war. John wrote a small book called, "The Naked Soldier" which explains the work in detail. Once again, a great talk from John.
John's book is available via Amazon books for just a few dollars and is well worth the read.

Well folks!! This year's Duck Derby is over and a great success. You all did a fantastic job in selling tickets, helping with the set up and tear down and being a part of the magnificent spectacle that it was up at Hillarys Marina last Saturday. Justin did an unbelievable job of media interviews on radio, tv and facebook and this generated 2,600 tickets online. We could not have done this well without Justin and our events organiser Russell Lanyon from Millpoint. Also, Keiren Shun was a standout in ticket selling and entering all the ticket holders details in a huge spreadsheet, a job that would've taken many, many hours so a big thanks to Keiren. All in all it was a terrific event by Herisson in partnership with Millpoint Rotary.
Justin has sent an invitation to all participants for a dinner at the Turkuaz Mediterranean Restaurant, Shop T221 Hillarys boardwalk, 58 Southside Dr, Hillarys Boat Harbour on Friday 22 October. which will be a terrific social fun night for us all so stick the date in your planner!!
And they're racing!!
