At our last morning meeting we heard from Richard Nolan;
presenting his book ‘One Simple Choice’ – written anonymously – which describes the decisions facing a young person and the consequences of those decisions. It is a very good and challenging read. It is designed to provide guidance to adolescents at an important stage of life. Richard is preparing a work book to accompany One Simple Choice and hopes that both will be able to be used by school students. Heirisson is very proud to have contributed financially to the publishing of the book and also to assisting Richard with reviews and editing. We will be supporting Richard’s objective of having it used widely in WA schools. Congratulations to Richard!
And here's a pic of Keiron, Richard and Justin at 'Brass in the Grass' held in Victoria Gardens East Perth when we managed to raise $600 for St. Barts.
And from President Don:
AGM – 14 December
Thanks to all those members who were able to attend the AGM on 14 December – our third evening meeting of the year so far. As well as dealing with the usual business of the AGM, six-monthly updates were presented from Community Services, Community Services, Youth Services and International Services. It was a great opportunity for everybody to catch-up on what has been happening and collectively note the large number of worthy achievements since July 2021. Well done all!
New Board – to be installed in July 2022
At our AGM on 14 December, members elected a new Board for the 2022-2023 Rotary Year. Board members will be:
President 2022-2023 – Bronwyn Denman
President Elect 2023-2024 – Madeleine Shoebridge
Secretary – Sheridan Webb
Treasurer – Don Burnside
Club Services – Keiren Shun
Youth Services – Richard Nolan
International Services – Greg Hunter
Community Services – Ken Mullin
The new Board will be installed in July 2022.
Australia Day Breakfast – 26 January 2022 in Victoria Gardens
Heirisson will again be providing an Australia Day Breakfast in Victoria Gardens. Unfortunately St Barts will not be able to assist, and so we will need a large contingent of Heirisson members to rally around, and so please put that event in your diaries. We are hoping to link with East Perth Community Group. A planning team led by Robin Arndt is working on the details, which will be advised at our first meeting next year on Thursday 13 January 2022.
Finally, a big thanks to Justin, Don, Keiren and Allan who provided pictures for the production of HH
and here's wishing a very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year to you all.
