Hi Folks,
Last week..........
We were all treated to the most interesting (and delicious) talk from one of our own, Rick Fletcher, about the life of the Western Rock Lobster.
And a big apology to Rick for not posting a pic of him and his presentation here but alas, there's no retrieving data that hasn't happened when the battery goes flat!!! :(
Anyway, it is extremely interesting just how a rather delicate and fluky purile lobster is, with it's journey to hundreds of miles north then hundreds of miles south on the Leeuwin Current, to our boiling pot of salt water sitting on a boat in Longreach Bay, Rottnest Island!!
A very big thanks to Rick, much enjoyed by all. (The writer's mind kept fading to images of a cheesy white sauce)

Here is June Siddique's very kind letter of appreciation to our club on receiving her Paul Harris Fellow award at our recent COD.
Dear Don,
Having now composed myself after the astounding accolade on Saturday evening, may I please extend sincere thanks for the honour bestowed upon me with a Paul Harris Fellow.
I am both honoured and humbled to be a recipient of this Award. Moreover, it is wonderful to once again connect with great friends at the Rotary Club of Heirisson.
My every Best Wish to you all for a most successful Rotary year.
Warm regards,
June Siddique

The Heirisson Rotary's 'Eye Contact' exhibition was on show in the St. Mary's Anglican School for Girls in Karrinyup last week. When we picked it up this last Monday, Fr. Richard Pengelly handed over several very large bags of socks for our 'Sox and Jox in the City' program. He also showed the writer many really excellent pics he had taken which I will have pleasure including in the next week's HH. This week, the Eye Contact is displayed at South Perth Council Community Hall and a big thanks to Robin and Anne Arndt for their organisation of this event and Keiren Shun for helping with the installation. It will be picked up this Friday before 3pm. Robin and the writer will be there but we will need two or three others to help with the retrieval.

Also last week, Ken, Don and Bev were in Esperance to raise awareness (and funds) for the Kate Mullin Association. Here is a photo of Ken with Harry Graham (MC at the event in Esperance). Ken spoke about the KMA at the event. Harry works at Wongutha School.
Also a photo of Sarah Callow, our KM Scholarship winner speaking about her experiences in teacher training and the value of the scholarship in supporting her studies.
While in Esperance, Ken, Don and Bev attended a meeting of the Esperance Bay Rotary Club, where Ken spoke about the Kate Mullin Association. The presentation was well received.
Regards
Don

Finally, this week's talk was going to be by Allan Mclean but due to his recent surgery, is unable to do so. Ken Mullin has kindly offered to tell us all about the 'My Health Record' system in which he was heavily involved with producing the computer programming for that project.
