Hi Folks!
Last week..........
We were all treated to a very serious talk concerning domestic violence by Sandy Taylor representing Prevention of Violence Against Women and Mark Crake, Senior Policy Officer of the Office of the Public Advocate. Here are some extremely worrying facts from Government research in 2018:
-
Intimate partner violence causes more illness, disability and deaths than any other risk factor for women aged 25–44
-
1 in 6 (1.6 million) women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by a cohabiting partner since age 15
-
1 in 5 (1.7 million) women and 1 in 20 (428,000) men have been sexually assaulted and/or threatened since age 15
-
2,800 women and 560 men were hospitalised in 2014–15 after being assaulted by a spouse or partner
One in 6 Australian women and 1 in 16 men have been subjected, since the age of 15, to physical and/or sexual violence by a current or previous cohabiting partner (ABS 2017b). Family, domestic and sexual violence happens repeatedly—more than half (54%) of the women who had experienced current partner violence, experienced more than one violent incident (ABS 2017b).
Men are more likely to experience violence from strangers and in a public place; women are most likely to know the perpetrator (often their current or a previous partner) and the violence usually takes place in their home.

Our thoughts are still very much with: Allan, but it's good news this time. After speaking with Al today, he's reported that health is improving and hopefully he'll be with us this Thursday however he still has an annoying discomfort on the surface of his chest skin which apparently is nerve related so coming on Thursday depends on how he pulls up on Thursday morning but he does hope to be with us.

Combine Rotary Clubs Dinner last Monday Evening.
President Don, Keiren Shun, Warwick and Jim braved the stormy weather and enjoyed a delightful evening promoted by Morley Rotary. Heirisson, North Perth and Swan Rotary Clubs were represented. DG Dee Buckland was the special guest and she spoke about exciting times ahead and past and how the future of Rotary is looking good and solid. Three new members were inducted into the Morley club and all representing Presidents spoke briefly about their particular memberships, community services and fundraising. There was also a Zoom link up with some people in India starting up new Rotary clubs. The food was very tasty and a good time was had by all.
